The Mildura Region is well serviced by road, rail and air transport, with significant capacity for expansion.

Rail
A broad gauge rail network connects the Mildura Region with the Ports of Melbourne and Geelong. Rail carries 95% of grain and 12% of horticultural products exported from the region. Silo facilities for bulk grain are focused on rail lines, with some off-rail facilities. Most grain from the Mildura Region is exported from the Port of Geelong.

The general rail freight service at Mildura handles about 16,000 tonnes per annum. The service operates from a Freight Gate currently located in Seventh St Mildura, with direct road access.

Road
The Mildura Region’s highway and main road network are generally of a very good standard, and all declared roads are approved for B-Double use.* Mildura Rural City Council has developed a hierarchy for the local road network, ensuring capital and maintenance works target the most important locations.
