The horticultural industry is supported locally by high quality wholesale nurseries that supply grafted grape vines, grape vine rootlings, citrus, olive, and avocado trees and many other food producing plants - even fresh flowers. It is estimated that the Mildura Region has 340 hectares* of Nursery growing area.

Boulevarde Nurseries, a leading wholesale nursery, is using state of the art horticultural technology with the Aurora green house imported from Italy, and their tissue culture laboratory. The 1,000 square metre green house is used for green micrografting of grapevines, allowing large volumes of plants to be produced rapidly. By using the nursery’s tissue culture facility, they are able to provide the viticultural industry with routinely evaluated, disease-tested planting material of superior selections and recently released varieties. Chalmers Nurseries has been recognised for achieving high quality standards. The nursery is committed to quality control in all stages of grafting vines. It has been accredited internationally and was the first vine nursery to receive the international standard ISO 9002 accreditation. The nursery’s drive for quality has allowed it to exclusively trade with the world renowned Italian nursery Vivai Cooperative Rauscedo and the Italian based international viticultural consulting company, Matura, for the importation of a range of new vinifera material and rootstocks.

Both Chalmers and Boulevarde Nurseries are among a number of distributors that pride themselves on the high calibre of graftlings and rootlings they supply to many growers within and around the region.
